What is a Hotelgift?
A Hotelgift is a gift card/voucher that can be used for a hotel booking. Bookings can be made via www.hotelgift.com.
How long is a Hotelgift valid for?
Your Hotelgift is valid for two years after purchase, well enough time to redeem your gift.
Which hotels can recipients choose from?
Hotelgifts can be redeemed at 110.000+ hotels worldwide. More specific hotel information can be found on our bookings engine. Please fill in the destination and time range, it should give you a list of available hotels according to your preferences.
Does a Hotelgift cover any other costs (e.g. dinner) at the hotel?
Hotelgifts can only be used to pay for accommodation. The gift cards cannot be used to pay for dinner or drinks in the hotels. The reason for this is that we cannot inform the staff of all the 110,000 hotels we work with, how to accept our gift card. As a result, the gift card can only be redeemed through our website. However, in many of the hotels, you can book your breakfast along with your room through our website.
Can I make multiple bookings with one Hotelgift?
Yes, you can use your Hotelgift as many times as you like. If you received a Hotelgift with a high value you can choose to spend a longer period at the same hotel (i.e. more nights in one go) or use the Hotelgift for multiple bookings at different hotels.You can continue until the value is entirely spent. If costs exceed the leftover value, you pay the difference by following the booking payment process. It's not possible to use the leftover value for other costs than accommodation costs (i.e. for additional services like a meal). The value on a Hotelgift can only be used for accommodation costs.
Can multiple Hotelgifts be used for one booking?
It is not possible to redeem several gift cards for one booking. The Hotelgift bookings engine allows only one gift voucher per booking. If you're a wedding couple and seeking a custom solution, please a contact us at email@example.com.
What if my Hotelgift is lost?
If your Hotelgift is lost, email us immediately at firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, email address and the original purchase receipt. Provided the Hotelgift has not already been redeemed, we will deactivate the lost Hotelgift and give you a new one. Please note that you must agree to provide all reasonable information and assistance to help us investigate the loss of the Hotelgift.
Can I make a booking without a Hotelgift?
No, you need a Hotelgift voucher in order to make a booking on our bookings engine.
Which countries does Hotelgift support?
Hotelgift operates globally. You can buy and redeem a Hotelgift from all over the world via our website. We work with more than 110,000 hotels in over 170 countries. Check out our hotel offerings on our bookings engine.
Where is Hotelgift based?
Hotelgift is originally Dutch. We're located in The Netherlands, but we operate internationally. You can access the Hotelgift website from everywhere in the world!
Hotelgift for Buyers and Senders
Do I need to choose a hotel or the recipient?
The original purpose of the Hotelgift was to give recipients a nice hotel getaway. In our minds, recipients get to decide where to go and which hotel to stay at. That means that you don't have to pick a hotel for them in advance. However, if you want to recommend a hotel or destination, please feel free to add that to your personal message!
How long does it take to receive a Hotelgift?
Hotelgifts can be sent in three ways:
- As an e-card digitally to the recipient. Instant delivery after purchase.
- As a printable PDF to your email so you print it out and give it in person. You'll receive the printable PDF directly after purchase in your email inbox.
- A physical gift card delivered to your address. Global shipment for the physical Hotelgifts will take about 2 to 8 working days.
Are there any fees or additional costs when buying a Hotelgift?
No, there are no fees and additional costs. The amount you spend on a Hotelgift is exactly the value of the Hotelgift voucher. We do not charge extra fees or additional costs for the purchase of a Hotelgift.
How much should I give the recipient?
If you're doubting about the amount to put on a Hotelgift, you could cross check the prices of the hotels. Even though they are arranged real-time and could fluctuate, it does give an indication of what the price range is for hotels in the city you specify. You can check hotel prices on our bookings engine. On average, the price for one night in a hotel is between €100 - €200. If you give an amount that's not sufficient for a night in a hotel the recipient chooses, the recipient pays the leftover amount to pay. Alternatively: if recipients have money left on their vouchers after booking a hotel, they can use the rest of the value for another time.
What do I do when I haven’t received a confirmation mail?
You should receive a confirmation mail within 5 minutes after your payment. If this is not the case, it might be lost in your spam folder. If this is also not the case, please send an email to email@example.com. Our support team will find out where it is and send the confirmation mail to you.
What should I do when I did not receive my printable PDF?
You should receive the printable PDF within 5 minutes after your payment. If this is not the case, it might be lost in your spam folder. If this is also not the case, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Our support team will find out where it is and send the voucher to you anyway.
Why is the image on my printable PDF upside down?
If the image on your printable PDF is upside down, that's correct! No worries, this is displayed right. Since you've chosen for a printable PDF, you will have to fold the voucher following the dotted line. If you've done this correctly, the image won't be upside down on the voucher.

How do I redeem a Hotelgift?
Redeeming a Hotelgift can be done on our booking engine. If you go to www.hotelgift.com/book/, you can search for a city and filter on a date range. It should show you a list of all available hotels. If you've found the one you like, you simply proceed with the steps indicated. Eventually, they'll ask you for a Hotelgift code. After simply filling in the details and making the payment (if necessary), you're done!
How can I see the price of a hotel room?
Just search for a specific location and date, and you’ll see the prices displayed of all available hotels.
What happens when the hotel booking is cheaper than the value of my Hotelgift?
In this case, you can put the remainder towards another hotel booking. Please note that the remaining value can’t be used for payment of additional services at the hotel (e.g. for food or beverages).
What happens when the hotel booking is more expensive than the value of my Hotelgift?
In this case, you can pay the additional costs via the payment page of the booking process.
Are there any additional costs and fees when redeeming a Hotelgift?
No, there are no additional fees and costs. In addition, Hotelgift offers strong hotel availability of the best hotels year-round.
Do I need to activate my Hotelgift before redeeming it?
No, you can make a hotel booking with your Hotelgift immediately via www.hotelgift.com.
Can I redeem my Hotelgift for cash?
No, you can only redeem your Hotelgift for a hotel booking made via www.hotelgift.com.
Why is the hotel I want to stay at unavailable?
If you have a specific hotel in mind but it doesn't show up in the results list, it might be the case that the hotel is already fully booked. You've chosen a very popular hotel! In that case, it's recommended to search for another hotel or to change the date range. Another case could be that this hotel is not within our portfolio. As we have over 110,000 hotels worldwide we trust that you can easily find another hotel of choice.
What do I do when I haven’t received a booking confirmation email?
If you have questions about your booking order, please send an email to email@example.com with your booking details. Our support team will contact you as soon as possible to help you with your confirmation.
How do I know if my booking is confirmed?
As soon as you have completed the booking process, the confirmation page with your booking details will appear. A confirmation email with all of your booking details will also be sent to the email address you provide.
What do I do when the hotel has not received my booking?
It approximately takes 24 hours for a booking order to be processed. If you have booked a hotel, but the hotel can't confirm then it probably means that we at Hotelgift haven't been able to process it yet. Your hotel should have definitely received the booking after 24 hours. If this is still not the case after a day has passed, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. They will reconfirm it with the hotel you chose.
How can I cancel or change my booking?
Please check the cancellation policy on your booking confirmation. If the booking can be cancelled then please send your cancellation request with your booking confirmation to email@example.com. The refunded value of the booking will be re-loaded onto the Hotelgift that was used to make the booking. To change your booking, please cancel your booking and make a new booking.
Hotelgift for Businesses
What is the minimum order amount to place a B2B order?
In general, we create custom orders from €/$/£ 1000. However, if you have a different request, please contact us to discuss the possibilities.
Can I pay by invoice?
Yes, you can pay by invoice. We ship or email the gift cards straight away. As soon as we have received your payment the Hotelgifts will be activated.
What do I do when I don’t have the recipient’s name (yet)?
The recipient's name field is a required feature in the Hotelgift creation process. However, if you don't know who the recipient will be yet (for example when the Hotelgift is meant as a raffle prize) you can be a little creative with the name depending on what kind of prize you want to give:
- Email: you can fill in something else. An example could be 'For the ultimate winner' ;)
- Printable PDF: you can fill in the same thing as described in 1. Or you could fill in a series of dots like '.................'. So that after printing it, you can just grab a pen and write the name of the recipient.
How will I receive the Hotelgifts?
You can choose from three delivery methods:
- Email: send digital Hotelgifts directly to the recipient’s email address. The recipient will receive an email with an animation containing the Hotelgift (example: https://www.hotelgift.com/demo/)
- Printable PDF: receive a printable PDF at your (purchaser’s) email address. You can print the attachment in your office, fold it as a postcard and give the Hotelgifts immediately in person to the recipients.
- Physical: Receive physical Hotelgifts by regular mail. We will design and print custom Hotelgifts for you and send these by mail. Please allow approximately one week of shipment time for this option. We ship from the Netherlands, United States, and Australia to any destination worldwide.
Can I customise the Hotelgifts?
Yes. You can choose your own gift card image, add a personal text and if desired, you can also add your company logo. Within one order we can make different gift card designs for you.
How long does it take to ship physical Hotelgifts?
Global shipment for the physical Hotelgifts will take about 2 to 8 working days. We ship from the Netherlands, United States, and Australia to any destination worldwide.
