Where to go in Spring in the UK
1. Skomer Island, Wales
Great for: Birdwatchers
It's a universal concept that spring is synonymous with nature, so it only makes sense to visit Skomer Island this spring. To get to the island, you need to take a 15-minute boat from Martin's Haven Beach in Wales where you can also visit Lockley Lodge and wander the stunning beach. Visit nearby Marloes Village for pubs, restaurants and cafés as well as B&Bs and campsites. Back to Skomer Island though, this British Island just off the Pembrokeshire coast is a must for bird watchers as its famous for its huge bird population which includes:

- Razorbills

- Fulmars
On the island, you can join in on bird migration tours, art events and group yoga sessions - all the ingredients you need for a wholesome spring staycation. Be aware though, there are no cafe facilities on the island, there is very little shelter or shade and no dogs are allowed.

2. Westonbirt, England
Great for: Treehuggers
Westonbirt also known as The National Arboretum is one of the world's best collections of temperate trees and shrubs so paying a visit in spring is perfect timing to see all these incredible plants coming to life. If you're into nature, you'll be in awe at the 3,000 different species of trees including rare plants from around the world. We recommend packing a picnic and walking some of the 17 miles of paths within the arboretum (but it's worth noting that dogs aren't allowed so maybe it's best to leave your pooch at home). Once you're done marvelling at the trees, pay a visit to Highgrove Gardens for even more spectacular nature.

3. The Calder Valley, England

Another stunning place to visit in the UK in spring is the Calder Valley in good ole West Yorkshire. Because it's much less famous than other UK beauty spots, you can enjoy unspoilt nature that spills over rivers, hills, valleys and moorland. We recommend walking the Calderdale Way, a multi-day hike over the paths less travelled and off the usual tourist trail. Nearby, you can also wander the (dog-friendly) Yorkshire Sculpture Park and have a fun family day out and a delicious lunch at the award-winning Cannon Hall Farm.

4. Exmouth, England
Great for: Stunning beaches
Exmouth is one of Devon’s most loved coastal towns, and spring is a brilliant time to explore its beaches and scenic trails. With two miles of sandy shoreline along the Jurassic Coast, it’s a paradise for anyone who loves coastal views. You can walk or cycle along the Exe Estuary Trail and, if you’re into birdwatching, the Exmouth Nature Reserve is home to a huge variety of birds. We’d also suggest trying out a paddleboarding session or taking a boat trip to see the coast from a new perspective. Aside from nature, go bargain hunting at the Exmouth Indoor Market and tuck into fish and chips at Krispies (when you're that close to the sea it's only right).

5. Peak District, England
Great for: May Day celebrations
The Peak District is vibrant in spring, with blooming landscapes (it was the first British national park) and unique local traditions. 8. Anglesey
